Why Seek Nutrition Counseling?
As a mother of 2, I am passionate about building judgement-free relationships with food and fostering a love of flavors.
As a new parent, I was shocked at how little information is given to parents about feeding a young child. It is not surprising that so many families find themselves confused and frustrated navigating the complicated world of feeding toddlers. It is not always intuitive, and if you’re feeling unprepared for the battles that have overtaken your mealtimes, it is not your fault! More importantly: it’s never too late to turn it around.
As a dietitian, my job is to demystify the wide array of nutrition and feeding advice in the world and connect you with the evidence-based strategies that will bring the change you want to see in your household.
My Approach.
I take a child-centered approach to reinstate trust and an appropriate balance of power between caregiver(s) and child. I do not concoct ways to trick or force a child to eat; instead, we will define roles and practice productive patterns that bring peace to the dinner table. Parents will be provided the knowledge to feel confident in mealtime decisions. Simultaneously, we will renew a sense of trust in the child to choose nourishing foods for their bodies, without bribery or coercion. The child is given the opportunity to develop a lasting love of healthful food. I collaborate with your child’s doctors, clinicians, and providers to ensure an integrated approach. I will also provide referrals to other providers, as indicated.
What to Expect.
I draw on my extensive and varied background in food, counseling, and Pediatric Nutrition to provide a unique combination of knowledge and support for parents. I will review your child’s growth, feeding, and nutrition history to uncover concerns and areas for adjustment.
An individualized plan with specific interventions will be provided to improve the child’s nutrition as well as the mealtime experience for the whole family. There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to children, and together we will personalize a strategy that works best for your unique child and family dynamics.
Follow up appointments will provide support for parents in integrating new strategies and adjusting interventions as needed.
